The Wisconsin DNR is extending the period for public comment for one of their master plans at a northeastern Wisconsin state park.
The new deadline is December 4th for comments on the Newport State Park master plan variance, which could allow for constructing a new 100-seat amphitheater along with other improvements.
According to existing plans, the day-use area is designated as a Recreation Management Area, which will provide and maintain attractive and safe grounds for intensive outdoor activities.
The amphitheater would be part of Newport State Park’s opportunities to become a night-sky viewing area with interpretive programming as an International Dark Sky Park.
Any public comment on the master plan can be submitted to the Wisconsin DNR Office in Madison.
