A teenage babysitter has been sentenced to jail time after admitting to killing a Sussex family’s Chihuahua.
Kielee Sonnemann, 19, was sentenced by a Waukesha County judge to nine months in jail, followed by two years of probation.
Sonnemann confessed to fatally stabbing the dog, named Batman, and leaving it wrapped in a plastic bag under a bed.
In court, she expressed remorse, stating she loved the dog but could not explain why she committed the act.
Her attorney noted that Sonnemann suffers from bipolar disorder.
The victim’s family, however, expressed disappointment with the sentence and requested additional jail time.
