Rate increases could be on the way in Sheboygan for wastewater treatment services.
The Sheboygan Public Works Committee met last night (November 26th) and one item up for discussion was an 8 percent rate increase for water treatment bills for residents.
The rate increases are due to projects and other expenses at the Sheboygan wastewater treatment facility along with a $23 million interceptor sewer facility, which will begin construction next year.
While the rate increases are for the City of Sheboygan, satellite communities served, such as the Kohler, Sheboygan Falls, and the Town of Wilson, may also see rate increases.
In 2024, wastewater treatment bills cost $17.33, and the proposed increase for 2025 would see monthly charges go up to $19.00.
These rates are reviewed each fall, and this would be the third consecutive year that wastewater treatment rates have been increased.
An ordinance amendment is required for full approval of these price hikes, which means final approval will now go before the Sheboygan Common Council.
