A crash over the weekend in Sheboygan ended with a police car sitting on its roof.
The Sheboygan Police Department says the incident occurred on the north side of Sheboygan just after 8:00 p.m. on Sunday (December 1st).
An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding.
However, the driver fled, initiating a police pursuit.
As the officer tried to locate the vehicle, the fleeing suspect failed to stop for a stop sign and struck the squad car.
The collision caused the police cruiser to roll over, coming to a rest upside down on its roof.
The suspect, a 25-year-old Sheboygan man, remained on the scene.
He was arrested and has had charges of Fleeing and Eluding an Officer, Operating with a Restricted Substance, and Failing to Stop for a Stop Sign referred to the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office.
The officer involved was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, while the driver and two occupants of the other vehicle declined medical treatment.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
