The Manitowoc Lincoln Girls Basketball team thrives as the Lincoln boys suffer a tough loss on the road in Oshkosh.
The girls team handily defeated Milwaukee King 89-39 from the JFK Fieldhouse.
Sarah Bolchen had 29 points on the night for the Ships, followed by Kendall Schmitz with 20 and Hannah Conard with 19.
In the Shipbuilders boys’ game, Oshkosh North started with a big lead and never looked back in a 74-53 win.
Senior Zay Mitchell, who’s heading to Iowa State on a scholarship, put up 45 points, including 30 in the first half for the Spartans, who lead 40-20 at halftime.
North’s Jackson Anderson added eight points in the win.
For Manitowoc Lincoln, Brayden Steinbecker had the most points on the team with 24, including 16 in the second half. Micah Kubsch added 12, while Cade Grapentine had nine in the loss.
Lincoln is now 1-1 on the season, while Oshkosh North starts their season at 1-0.
The Shipbuilders girls’ team hits the road Thursday as they face Menasha, while the boys return to the JFK next week on Monday when they face Kingdom Prep Lutheran.
