The search for a missing Green Bay man has come to a tragic end.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office announced that 37-year-old Benjamin Berendsen of Green Bay was found dead in a heavily wooded area east of Interstate 43 and north of Silver Beach Road in the Town of Belgium.
Sheriff’s Deputies say an extensive search for Berendsen was done starting last Friday (November 29th) when his unoccupied Chevrolet Suburban was found on the shoulder of I-43.
Various search efforts were made to find Berendsen, including using K9 tracking, drone searches, and foot searches.
A Wednesday morning (December 4th) K9 search led to the finding of Berendsen in the swampy and heavily wooded area.
The investigation into his death is ongoing with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
No additional information has been released.
