Following the recent snowstorm, law enforcement in Fond du Lac and Winnebago Counties have released its snow-related incident statistics.
During the snowfall between 1:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (December 4th), The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received 370 inbound calls, creating 189 calls for service. In that same time frame, there were 41 car accidents, 16 vehicle runoffs, and 13 disabled vehicles in Fond du Lac County.
In Winnebago County, between 2:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., 469 calls were received, with 153 of them being weather-related.
29 car accidents and 29 cars in the ditch were reported.
Both the Fond du Lac and Winnebago County Sheriff’s Offices have said it was an all-hands-on-deck situation with deputies, detectives, sergeants, and other staff out assisting residents during the storm.
Both have also advised motorists to continue exercising caution while navigating roadways, not just during snowstorms but throughout the entire winter season.
Also, a multi-vehicle crash resulted in a road closure and multiple injuries in Green Bay.
The Green Bay Police Department was called to Interstate 41 at West Mason Street and Lombardi Avenue just before 7:45 a.m. yesterday (December 5th).
The cause of the crash was weather-related and involved multiple vehicles, resulting in numerous individuals being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the crash, the Green Bay PD closed the I-41 northbound on-ramp at Lombardi, and the northbound off-ramp at West Mason.
The closure lasted just over one hour, reopening just before 9:00 a.m.
