The Manitowoc Boys Swim season is underway.
The Ships have one meet under their belt as they fell to Ashwaubenon 119 to 65 earlier this week.
The sole winner for the Ships was Micah Stachovak in the 100 yard Backstroke.
Despite the early loss, Head Coach Mike Zupek says he has confidence in the team with the effort he has seen.
“I was very happy with how the boys swam,” he told SeehaferNews.com. “They gave it 100% effort. They never gave up.”
Not just the returners of the team but the new comers are making a mark as well.
“They’ve actually brought a lot of enthusiasm and hard work,” Zupek explained. “The guys are working hard. They’re trying their hardest. And that’s all we ask.”
Zupek says he is looking forward to seeing how his team improves, calling it the team’s “major goal.”
Zupek was happy to say that there are many individuals who help lead and are role models to other teammates.
“Different people step up in different ways,” he said. “We have a couple of guys who are showing leadership by working hard during practice. There’s a group of them that are really taking it to heart and putting this team together.”
The Ships are back in the pool today (December 7th) at Hilbert High School.
