A Milwaukee man is in custody after leading authorities in Fond du Lac County on a lengthy police chase.
A deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving yesterday (December 9th) around 4:15 a.m. traveling northbound on Interstate 41.
The deputy activated his emergency lights near Lost Arrow Road in the Town of Byron, but the driver, a 37-year-old Milwaukee man, increased his speed to elude the deputy.
The pursuit began, and the driver continued north on I-41 before taking the Johnson Street exit.
The Milwaukee man entered the city for a brief period, traveling on Peters Avenue and Scott Street before continuing northbound on Rolling Meadows.
The driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve south of County Highway OO, sliding into the shoulder and immobilizing the car, bringing an end to the chase.
Once the pursuit ended, a high-risk traffic stop was made.
The driver and passenger, a 35-year-old man also from Milwaukee, were taken into custody.
The passenger was later released without any charges.
However, the driver had warrants out for his arrest in Milwaukee County and is now facing charges of Fleeing and Eluding, Recklessly Endangering Safety, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and OWI.
In total, the chase spanned 8.5 miles.
