It was another successful year for the Manitowoc County Drug Take Back Day.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig said on WOMT’s Be My Guest Program that over 1,800 pounds of unwanted pills and other medications were collected this year.
But it doesn’t have to be the one day where residents can drop off their unwanted or unused medications.
They have a drop-box available at the sheriff’s office.

Drug drop boxes are also at the Manitowoc, Two Rivers, and Mishicot Police Departments.
Unused prescriptions are taken to an incinerator and destroyed.
The drop boxes are only for unused prescriptions and not for needles or other drugs.
Wisconsin has been one of the states at the forefront of getting rid of unwanted medications.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, we were number one in the nation, collecting over 55,000 pounds of drugs this year during the annual Drug Take Bake Day.
The next Drug Take Back Day will be held in April.
