The Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers girls’ basketball team looks for their eighth consecutive victory to start the season Saturday afternoon as they travel to Door County to meet The Sevastopol Pioneers of The Packerland Conference.
The Lancers, the state’s third-ranked team in The Division Four wissports.net coaches’ poll, are coming off a 62 to 47 road win at Howards Grove Thursday night, while the Pioneers are 2 and 1 in the conference and 4 and 2 overall.
They are coming off a 42 to 32 loss at the conference, leading Algoma Thursday night in a game in which they led 20 to 17 at halftime. Game time is 2 p.m.
A girl-boy doubleheader will be played in Valders on Saturday afternoon as The Vikings host Cedar Grove, Belgium.
The Vikings girls are looking for their seventh consecutive victory after defeating Roncalli Thursday night. The Valders boys are playing their third game in five days. The girl’s game tips at 3 p.m., with the boy’s scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
Other boy’s contests include Manitowoc Lincoln battling Kenosha Bradford at The Grafton Tournament beginning at 5 p.m.
Several teams are participating in The Baird/ Gustman Shootout in Kaukauna. Brillion meets Wrightstown at 6 p.m., Whitnall battles Kimberly at 4:30, and the host Galloping Ghosts play Kenosha Indian Trail at 7:30 p.m.
There’s a full slate of boy’s games in The Packerland Conference, which include Green Bay NEW Lutheran at Kewaunee, Peshtigo at Algoma, Sevastopol at Sturgeon Bay, and Oconto at Gibraltar. All those games tip at 7 p.m.
Appleton North takes on Verona at the 60 Eight Tournament at Madison College at 1:30, and at 7:30 p.m., Appleton East hosts The Bayport Pirates.
Other girl’s games have De Pere at West De Pere at 3 p.m. Sheboygan Lutheran visits Sheboygan Christian at 2:30 p.m. Wrightstown at St. Mary Catholic at 5:30 p.m. and Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran /Providence Academy heads at to Hilbert to meet The Wolves with game time scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
