The Manitowoc Police Department is inviting residents to sign up for the next iteration of the Citizen Academy.
Every year, residents are invited to attend the academy to learn more about police work.
Academy classes are instructed by local law enforcement, who Crime Prevention Sargent Paul Krock ensures will be “open, honest, and candid about their duties and experiences as a law enforcement officer.”
The classes cover topics such as Police Department Operations, Use of Force, Firearms, Traffic Stops, O.W.I. Investigations, Building Searches, Crime Scene Investigations, Internet Sex Predators, Drug Awareness, Drone Demo, Human Trafficking, and Courtroom Testimony.
Upon graduating from the Citizens’ Academy, students will have the opportunity to continue to be involved by joining the Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association.
The next Citizens Academy classes will begin on February 18th and will be held every Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Applications can be obtained by calling SGT Krock at 920-686-6576 or by e-mailing PKrock@Manitowoc.org.
They are due by January 7th.
