The Sheboygan Fire Department is getting a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The $397,913 Assistance to Firefighters grant will help Sheboygan firefighters meet their emergency response needs by replacing the department’s aging cardiac monitors with seven new state-of-the-art cardiac monitors.
It will allow the department to continue to provide the community with the highest level of pre-hospital care.
The new monitors help reduce pauses during CPR, allow paramedics to view live real-time 12 lead EKGs to monitor for heart attacks, and allow sharing information from an emergency scene to the hospitals.
The Sheboygan Fire Department thanked FEMA and the City of Sheboygan Common Council for their support with matching funds.
The city provided had to match the grant by 10%, meaning they chipped in about $36,173.
