The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued some updates on the ongoing snow storm.
NOAA Warning Coordination Meteorologist for Northeast Wisconsin Kurt Kotenberg noted that while the storm system is expected to lay a significant amount of snow around a majority of the area, the lakeshore is expected to get the most, specifically the southern portion of Door County, south to Sheboygan County, where a total of 4 to 6 more inches of snow is expected through tomorrow morning.
The snow is expected to continue falling through the early morning hours in Manitowoc County.
A graph provided by NOAA (which you can see below) shows that there is a 65% chance of precipitation in the 4:00 hour Friday morning, and it will continue to hover around the 50% range until 9:00 a.m.
That being said, the impact on visibility is estimated to be rather limited, with a visibility of no lower than 1 mile predicted for our area.
The wind speeds are estimated to be between 10 and 20 mph this evening into tomorrow morning, but Kotenberg did say that the wind shouldn’t cause any whiteout situations for those on the roads.
The area that is expected to get the most amount of snow is just north of Mishicot and around the Algoma area.
However, with the temperatures expected to rise over the next week or so, Kotenberg anticipated the snow would be gone by New Year’s Day.
