A former officer from Elm Grove has passed away years after he risked his life in a daring rescue.
Officer John Krahn, 57, died on Tuesday (December 17th) following a life-altering injury he sustained in 2009 while saving a father and his two-year-old son from an oncoming train.
Krahn was struck by the train while attempting to help the pair to safety.
The father and child survived, but Krahn’s injuries ended his career in law enforcement.
That same year, he was honored with Elm Grove’s highest police award and named Top Cop of the Year.
Funeral arrangements are still being made.
