State Senate Republicans have expressed frustration with the University of Wisconsin’s handling of construction projects.
They voted to reject approximately $70 million in funding for several university building initiatives.
Republican leader Devin LeMahieu criticized the UW for failing to answer lawmakers’ questions and attempting to fast-track projects without proper transparency.
Among the projects affected is the UW-Madison engineering building.
The university has yet to clarify how the funding delay will impact the construction timeline.
LeMahieu stated that Republicans are open to reconsidering the funding if the university provides clear and honest answers at the statehouse.
