The City of Sheboygan is discussing purchasing a new ambulance for the Fire Department.
At the Sheboygan Licensing, Hearings, and Public Safety Committee yesterday (December 19th), the only item up for discussion was the proposed purchase.
This discussion has come about after the Fire Department purchased new ambulances in 2021 and 2022 but is yet to receive them due to manufacturing backorders.
Currently, these ambulances still have no known delivery date.
For this reason, the committee has discussed allocating nearly half a million dollars to purchase an additional ambulance, which would be available for use next month.
The ambulance itself would cost just under $400,000, and an additional $43,000 would be spent equipping the vehicle with all the necessary gear.
The Sheboygan Common Council will have the final say on the decision, and funds will be allocated from the Capital Projects account for the purchase.
