Florence A. Busse, age 92, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life with family by her side on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Laurel Grove Assisted Living.
Florence was born on December 28, 1931 in Fond du Lac to the late George and Eva (Nommensen) Snowden. After attending Lincoln High School, she completed her seamstress certification from Manitowoc County Normal. Florence worked many jobs in her life, including selling children’s clothing, waiting tables, selling carpeting at Sears, but most of her working career was spent as an account executive at various radio stations in the Lakeshore area. She had volunteered for the Manitowoc County Fair Boards where she spearheaded the efforts to bring remote radio broadcasts to the fair. Florence was proud to have brought WELS recorded church services, God’s Word Our Heritage, to local radio in the Lakeshore area. She enjoyed spending time gardening, but above all, being with her children and grandchildren. She also never missed a good Packer game. In her younger days she also was an avid cross country ski enthusiast.
Survivors include Florences two sons, Terry (Anne) Busse, Manitowoc, and Mark (Anna) Busse, Oshkosh; one daughter in-law Tina Busse; eight grandchildren, Bobbi Lee Pelnar and her fiancé, Tony, Jason (Kristina) Busse, Christina Busse, Virginia (Mike) Meyer, Austen (Krysta) Busse, Samuel (Andrea) Busse, Sarah (Lee) Fischer, and Kimberly (Brian) Langolf; 13 great grandchildren; four siblings, Terry Snowden, Madison; Eva Niquette, St. Nazianz; Jim Snowden, Jacksonville, FL; and Alice “Punk” Hartlaub, Naperville, IL; also other relatives and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eva Snowden; the father of her children, Delmar Busse; two sons, Michael and Dean Busse; along with in-laws and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Noon on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Rev. Stephen Melso and Rev. Caleb Davisson will officiate with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at Noon. Florence’s family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staffs of Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Laurel Grove Assisted Living, and Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for all of the care they provided. Also, thanks to Florence’s neighbors and their families for all the help they provided. Last, but not least, special thanks to Florence’s home care nurse, Sara, for both the care and friendship she provided on a daily basis for months.
