Welcome to a New Year of Youth Programming at Manitowoc Public Library! We’re excited to bring back some Family Activity Night (FAN) favorites, while introducing new activities for everyone to enjoy.
We begin with Bingo Bash on Tuesday, January 7 at 6 PM. Bingo is a great way to help children learn their letters and numbers, as well as practice social skills like listening, sportsmanship, and following directions. Snacks and prizes will be included! This program is intended for children ages 5-11 and their families. No registration is required.
Our fabulous and furry Therapy Dogs return on Tuesday, January 14. Studies show that children who read to animals gain confidence and improve their overall reading skills. Families may reserve a 15-minute time slot to share their favorite book with one of our four-legged friends. This program was put together for children ages 5-11, and registration is required. Please call the Youth Department at 920-686-3030 starting at 5 PM on December 30 to reserve your spot.
We’ll wrap up the month on Tuesday, January 21 with Colorful Creations. Participants will be able to create three different art-based projects: Squeegee painted cats, Tissue paper and crayon resists, and Mini mosaics. This program will take place at 6:30 PM and is designed for children ages 5-11. No registration is required.
February magically emerges with the arrival of Professor Veritas (UWGB Chemistry Professor, Amy Kabrhel) and our Whimsical Wizardry potions class on Tuesday, February 4 at 6:30 PM. Aspiring alchemists will have the opportunity to prepare four enchanting elixirs. Dressing as your favorite literary wizard is highly encouraged, though not required. This program has been conjured forth for children ages 5-11 and registration is required. Visit our website (www.manitowoclibrary.org/event/fan-wizardry) starting at 5 PM on Tuesday, January 21, to register.
The Therapy Dogs return on Tuesday, February 11. Please call the Youth Department at starting at 5 PM on January 28 to reserve your spot (no pun intended).
Our February fun finishes up with our LEGO Block Party. Young engineering enthusiasts can try their hand at a challenge build, or just enjoy open-ended free building. This program will take place on Tuesday, February 18 at 6 PM. No registration is required.
All programs will take place in the Balkansky Community Room. Children ages 8 and under must be accompanied by a guardian at all times.
