A court has ordered the Neenah Police Department to hand over documents related to the sexual assault investigation of the City Attorney.
David Rashid, Neenah City Attorney, has been charged with two felony counts of Third-Degree Sexual Assault and one misdemeanor count of Fourth-Degree Sexual Assault.
Last month, Rashid was in a Winnebago County courtroom for a motion hearing where the decision was made for Neenah Police to hand over their investigation documents into the alleged sexual assault.
WBAY reports that Rashid was placed on administrative leave earlier this year but was reinstated following the police’s investigation.
It was also reported that the charges stemmed from an anonymous email sent to the Neenah Police Department accusing Rashid of sexually assaulting his ex-wife.
Court documents show that Rashid and his legal counsel attempted to have the case thrown out in August, however, the court denied the motion.
Rashid will be back in court on February 17th for a status hearing.
