Some Manitowoc Public Utilities customers will be seeing an increase in their bills.
MPU stated in its monthly newsletter that electric customers will see a change in the Power Cost Adjustment Clause Charge (PCAC).
The adjustment is a component of an energy bill utilized to pass-through actual fuel costs incurred by MPU monthly.
The charge will go up by 7% or about a $1.98 per month increase for customers using 600 kilowatts per month.
MPU says the driver behind the adjustment is rising energy costs in the wholesale energy markets, which are passed through to MPU from their wholesale energy provider.
Customers will also see an increase in their wastewater treatment rate beginning in April of this year.
The treatment rate will go up by 12%, but the collection rate will remain the same.
A sewer user using seven units a month will see an increase of about $2.70 a month.
That increase is necessary to cover expenses and required treatment plant upgrades.
