Despite the new year just beginning, the Lighthouse Recovery Community Center has many events and other plans for 2025 to make this year even better than 2024.
The Lighthouse Marketing Outreach Coordinator Breanne Neeb gave insight on some of their plans for the year on WOMT A Light of Hope podcast,
“It is going to be a great year. We have a lot of events coming up,” she explained. “We have family dinner every Tuesday at 5:00 at the Lighthouse 818 State Street. We have Breaking the Stigma, we have a lot of other meetings that are on our calendar of events that are on the website at LighthouseRecoveryCommunityCenter.org.”
One of the Lighthouse’s most popular ongoing events is Breaking the Stigma, with the next one scheduled for January 11th at 3:30 p.m.
“We will have speakers at the Lighthouse,” Neeb revealed. “This is open to the community to help break the stigma of addiction, and substance abuse.”
The Lighthouse Recovery Community Center has community in its name for a reason, at Lighthouse everyone is welcomed to their community even to just learn more about addiction and substance abuse.
Show co-host Ian Schebel spoke on the event from a community member perspective, saying, “It’s open to the public, and that to me is really an open invitation to anybody who may have preconceived notions, that, maybe people with substance abuse disorder are less than. Please come to the Breaking the Stigma meeting, and believe me, it will change your viewpoint.”
Need elaborated, saying, “We’ve had people come that have children that are suffering with substance abuse disorder and that needed to just find out more of an introspective of the addiction and the disease. There’s been people that have come in just wanting to understand more and it’s a very educational piece and it’s a very good time.”
