A woman arrested in connection to a stabbing in Manitowoc says she worships the “Saint of Death.”
Manitowoc police officers were dispatched to a residence at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday (January 7th) on a report of multiple stabbings.
A female suspect was quickly apprehended and transported to the Manitowoc County Jail.
The 48-year-old woman was said to be aggressive with officers but agreed to give her side of the story through a translator.
The suspect said she worships “Santa Muerte,” or the Saint of Death, and was wearing numerous pieces of jewelry depicting the figure.
She claimed “Santa Muerte” had gifted her “all of the cars in the trailer park and all the cars in the world” as well as “all of Mexico and the entire universe” to her.
She also noted that her family attempted to get her treatment for a condition that was redacted in the police report.
As for what led up to the stabbing, the suspect told police she was taking the license plates off of the vehicles, which she perceived to be hers, when she was confronted by the rightful owners.
The victims were confused by her claims to own the vehicles and demands to produce paperwork.
The woman claimed she was attacked by one of the vehicle owners.
However, video surveillance showed the suspect initiating the attack, brandishing a large kitchen knife and pointing it at the victims.
A witness called 911, but police did not arrive before the suspect slashed an individual and attempted to stab another.
Another witness grabbed a nearby snow shovel and used it to hold the woman at bay until police arrived.
The woman was booked into the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of First Degree Reckless Injury with a Dangerous Weapon and First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety with a Dangerous Weapon.
