Crime in Oshkosh continued its downward trend in the month of December.
The Oshkosh Police Department has released its December crime statistics, giving a picture of crime for the month and the past year as a whole, and the numbers are quite positive.
The numbers show that while the five homicides in 2024 rose from just two in 2023, all other crimes in the city were down, with most dropping significantly from the year prior.
In 2024, there were 75 sex offenses, down nearly 40 percent from 2023, while robberies were down by 33 percent as well.
The two most minor decreases came in simple and aggravated assaults, down .03 and 9.9 percent, respectively.
Additionally, burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson dropped by at least 11.5 percent in Oshkosh.
There were also 12 OWI arrests, three weapon law violations, and 41 drug or narcotic arrests made in December.
So, while homicide, the most violent crime they encountered, went up, crime in the City of Oshkosh saw a drastic drop in 2024 thanks to the work done by the Oshkosh Police Department.
