High school students in Manitowoc County are being encouraged to apply for a student exchange trip to Manitowoc’s sister city, Kamogawa, Japan.
The relationship between Manitowoc and Kamogawa began in 1993, and in 1995, both cities began sending students to the other to experience the culture, food, and life in another country.
Six students will be selected to make the trip to Kamogawa, where they will stay with a host family and learn about the historic area of East-Central Japan.
Applicants must be residents or students in a Manitowoc area high school, must attend pre-travel meetings with the Manitowoc International Relations Association, and must understand and fulfill the responsibilities of being an ambassador for the area.
To apply, submit an essay introducing yourself and your hopes for the trip, along with two letters of recommendation, to Tourism@Manitowoc.org.
Applications are due by March 6th.
