A new program has been established in Green Bay to protect those diagnosed with dementia.
The Green Bay Police Department’s Behavioral Health Unit has announced the inception of Project Lifesaver.
The program is aimed at individuals with dementia who are prone to wandering.
The program will use bracelets on the wrist or ankles of those deemed “at-risk.”
The bracelets emit a radio frequency not audible to the human ear but can be tracked with a receiver, allowing them to pinpoint a persons location.
In order to qualify for the program, an individual must be diagnosed with dementia, live with a caretaker, and reside in the City of Green Bay.
Currently, two bracelets are available free of cost, thanks to grant funding.
To sign up for Project Lifesaver or for more information on the program, call the Green Bay Police Department at 920-448-3200.
