A display piece at the Manitowoc County Airport is being resurrected by some local aviation enthusiasts and some high school students.
Joshua Honey with EAA Chapter 383 tells SeehaferNews.com that the iconic 1947 Republic RC-3 Seabee that used to adorn the area of the airport off of Menasha Avenue is being fixed up by Chapter 383, with help from local students.
The plane was knocked down during a heavy windstorm in 2023, causing it to loose a rudder and suffer cosmetic damage.
Honey explained, “Countless hours of meticulous labor have been poured into this project, fueled by passion, elbow grease, and perhaps a few too many cups of coffee… The Seabee is not only being repaired but also receiving a fresh coat of paint and some exciting new features that will surely turn heads.”
The crew that has been restoring the plane will be on hand for the 4th Manitowoc Youth in Aviation Education event, which is scheduled for Saturday, January 18th.
