With frigid temperatures forecast over the next week or so, Wisconsin Public Service is issuing some tips for you to stay warm in your home without breaking the bank.
An easy one is to open up the blinds and let the sun in.
The rays will radiate a few degrees of extra heat, allowing you to keep the furnace down.
Just remember to close the curtains at night to help retain that heat and to cut down on drafts.
Residents are also being reminded to keep their meters clear and their heating vents, and to make sure you are using modern heater models which have additional safety features like automatic shut off.
One thing you should not do is use your oven as a heating source.
Not only is it inefficient, but it could also lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
