Marian A. Marquardt, age 96 of Manitowoc, died Monday, January 13, 2025, at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
The former Marian Koch was born on September 18, 1928, in Two Rivers, a daughter of the late William and Laura (LePine) Koch. She was a 1946 graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School. From 1946 until 1950 Marian worked for the Two Rivers Reporter newspaper followed by ten years at Woolworths in Manitowoc and worked for the Wagner’s grocery store in Francis Creek. On July 1, 1950, Marian was married to Orville Marquardt at St. Luke Catholic Church in Two Rivers, officiated by Fr. Clement LePine, her uncle. Orville preceded her in death on January 30, 2005.
Marian was a former member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek and a current member of St. Francis of Assisi, Manitowoc. She enjoyed playing piano, reading, working crossword puzzles, watching game shows, especially Jeopardy. Marian volunteered at the Holy Family gift shop for ten years.
Survivors include her nine children: Patty Marquardt, Manitowoc, David (Joanne) Marquardt, Manitowoc, Donald (Lori) Marquardt, Manitowoc, Linda (Dennis) Grabowski, Rockwood, John (Vickey) Marquardt, Manitowoc, Rita Marquardt, Manitowoc, Joan Marquardt, Manitowoc, Jean Marquardt, Manitowoc, Ruth Marquardt, Manitowoc; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her best friend: Doris Schwarzenbart, Manitowoc; four brothers: Tom Koch, GA, Bill Koch, Manitowoc, Claude Koch, Two Rivers, Dan Koch, CA; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Aileen Koch, NC, John “Boots” (Diane) Marquardt, AK; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Laura Koch, her husband: Orville Marquardt; one son: Michael Marquardt; one granddaughter: Laura; one brother: Mark Koch; one sister and brother-in-law: Barbara (Earl) Mueller; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Adolph and Sophia Marquardt; two brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law: Joanne Koch, Gloria Koch, Rose Mary Koch, Orman (Mary Ann) Marquardt, Oliver Marquardt, and Diane Kiel.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 20, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi (1416 Grand Ave, Manitowoc). The Rev. Doug LeCaptain will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial of her cremated remains to take place in the Spring at St. Anne Catholic Cemetery, Francis Creek. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
