Marjorie A. Zalewski, age 82, of Manitowoc passed away Monday morning, January 13, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
The former Marjorie Alfredson was born on November 24, 1942, in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Rueben and Irene (Tegge) Alfredson. She grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1961 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Marge later went to LTC and received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for Holy Family Hospital in various doctor offices in the area. She later began her company called MAZ Guardianship Services LLC helping people in the Manitowoc area as a guardian until her retirement in 2009. Marge was married to Thomas A. Zalewski on July 22, 1961, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and sang in the church choir and funeral choir. In the past, Marge was active with the Masquers, Heart-A-Rama, and Alzheimer’s Association Walks. She enjoyed sewing and playing the piano.
Survivors include her husband: Thomas Zalewski, Manitowoc; her three children: Sue Crowe and her significant other Barry Thompson, Green Bay, David “Zeb” (Cheryl) Zalewski, Burlington, Jeanne (Andrew) Wood, Carbondale, IL; five grandchildren: Tawnni, Perry, Zachary, Nicole, and Paul; one great-granddaughter: Emma; one sister-in-law: Carol Bauer, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Rueben and Irene Alfredson; one sister: Donna Berger; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Richard (Kay) Zalewski, Lyle Bauer.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home (928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc). Deacon Alan Boeldt will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery on Monday. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
