A fire in Fond du Lac has left one individual recovering from injuries.
Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was called to South Bell Street on Sunday (January 26th) just after 3:30 p.m. for reports of a structure fire.
Arriving fire crews found a residential home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the duplex house.
Two residents home at the time of the fire were able to escape, however, one individual was taken to a local hospital to treat burns to their forearm after attempting to extinguish the flames.
It took approximately one hour to bring the fire under control due to the unique layout of the home and the enclosed spaces in the attic.
The damage to the home was extreme as both units of the duplex have been deemed uninhabitable due to fire, smoke, and water damage.
At this time, the residents will be staying with family members, and the fire remains under investigation.
Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was assisted by the Fond du Lac Police Department and Alliant Energy in the response to the fire.
