A Telecommunicator (TC) in Outagamie County recently received an award for her actions on the job.
TC Lily Manke was awarded a Challenge Coin by Sheriff Clint Kriewaldt after helping a young child through a traumatic experience.
The young child came home to a family member who was seriously injured and experiencing a crisis.
The child dialed 911 and Manke was the one to receive the call.
Manke remained calm and helped them work through the situation as the child gave calm and direct answers while being obviously frightened.
As deputies arrived on the scene, the child stated she still needed someone to talk to, and TC Manke stayed on the line to keep her comforted.
This call came in during a crisis with no parent or adult present to help, and Manke became the presence needed in the child’s chaotic and scary situation.
The Outagamie County Communications Center said, of her actions, “The dedication and excellence displayed by TC Manke adheres to the mission and values we all strive for while performing our duties.”
