Fredric L. Geerdts, age 79, a resident of Valders, and formerly of Manitowoc, passed away while surrounded by family on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
Fred was born on July 30, 1945 in Battle Creek, MI to the late Arthur and Frances (Rollins) Geerdts. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1963. Fred enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until his honorable discharge. He was an auto mechanic and had worked at numerous dealerships and garages throughout Manitowoc County. Fred enjoyed spending his time going on fishing trips with his buddies, attending car shows, muscle cars, the occasional trip to a casino, going to flea markets and thrift stores, and above all, spending time with his family and friends – especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include Fred’s significant other, Jane Barnes; two daughters, Amanda (Troy) Rezachek and Paula (Michael) Thomas; grandchildren, Alexandrea Franz and her significant other, Daniel Jansen, Samantha (Dylan) Corbeil, Damienne Franz and her significant other, Derek Groene, and Michaela Thomas; great grandchildren: Blake Alexandrea, Jameson Eugene Fredric, Lincoln Zachary, and one on the way, Silas Derek; three siblings, Sue Bennin, John “Jack” (Vicki) Geerdts, and Peggy (Ray) Fuller; former wife and the mother of his daughters, Linda Kiel; Jane’s three sons, Bradley Barnes, and his children, Brandon, Katrina, Amanda, and Deklan; Nathan (Liz) Barnes, and their son, Ronan; and Travis (Cathy) Barnes, and their daughters, Lucy and Alyssa; also other relatives and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Frances Geerdts; grandson, Dennis Eugene Fredric Franz; and brother-in-law, Roger Bennin.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Elaine Petry as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military honors will be accorded by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731. A luncheon for family and friends will the be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at Noon.
