William Victor Geigel Sr., age 92, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Bill was born at home in Manitowoc along with twin brother Bernard on October 11, 1932, to William and Stella (Sinkula) Geigel. He attended Holy Innocents Catholic School grades one through eight. Bill was eternally thankful that in fourth grade his friend Roger taught him and his twin brother Latin prayers so that that they could be altar boys. Bill and Bernard graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1951 and together served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. While stationed in New Jersey, Bill met Sarah (Sally) Garrigan and wed her in August 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nutley, New Jersey. They moved to Manitowoc after their nuptials and raised eight children. Sally preceded Bill in death in January 1985. In September 1986 he married Monica (Kohlbeck) Scheuer at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Monica preceded Bill in death in 2022. A dedicated employee, Bill worked as a pressman at the Herald Times for 45 years, retiring in 1997.
Bill was a life-long member of St Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish, formerly Holy Innocents. He also dedicated many decades of service in various capacities to St. Vincent DePaul.
Bill was preceded in death by his Parents William and Stella; twin brother Bernard Geigel; first wife Sally (Sarah Garrigan) Geigel; sons William Geigel Jr. and James Geigel; second wife Monica (Scheuer) Geigel; Monica’s son-in-law David Koenig; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Edward J. Kunz, Delores Garrigan, Roger Kohlbeck, Cyril Kohlbeck, Abdon (Gertrude) Kohlbeck, Carol Kohlbeck, Emmanuel (Grace) Kohlbeck, George Kohlbeck, Kenneth (Marie) Kohlbeck, Gordon (Verna Mae) Kohlbeck, Herb (Marie) Kohlbeck, Dorothy Kohlbeck, Donna Scheuer, one grandson Timmy Geigel along with aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives.
He is survived by: his sister Mary Kunz; sister-in-law Bernice Geigel; children Bridget Geigel, Pat (Laura) Geigel, Sharon ((Mike) Koeppen, Timothy Geigel, Raymond Geigel, Colleen Geigel; daughter-in-law Susan Geigel; Monica’s children: Bruce Scheuer, Julie Koenig; grandchildren Brent (Stephanie) Geigel, Drew Geigel, Michael Koeppen, Marina Koeppen, Olivia Ryan, Mason (Laura) Geigel, Monica’s grandchildren Vincent Koenig, Kayla Koenig ; six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain. Military honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars/American Legion Honor Guard from Two Rivers at the church following the funeral service. There will be a luncheon held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. There will be a visitation at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. prayers for the closing of the casket will be read followed by a procession to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo.
