Wisconsin is among more than 20 states challenging President Trump’s freeze on federal funding through legal action.
Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul announced the lawsuit yesterday, aiming to block the president’s policy from taking effect.
Trump’s freeze targets various state and nonprofit aid programs, though direct payments like Social Security, Medicare, SNAP benefits, and rental assistance are not impacted, according to a White House spokesperson.
A federal judge has temporarily halted the freeze, extending through at least this Monday.
