The man charged with setting US Congressman Glenn Grothman’s Office on fire wants to get a charge dismissed.
According to court records, attorneys for 19-year-old Caiden Stachowicz of Menasha asked for a count of “making a terrorist threat” to be dropped since there isn’t enough evidence.
Fox 11 reports that Stachowicz’s attorney said he allegedly never expressed his intent to start the fire but rather he allegedly carried out his intent by starting the fire.
Prosecutors have not responded to the motion.
The 19-year-old allegedly admitted to starting the fire in response to the government’s then ban on TikTok, the popular social media outlet.
Only the outside of the building got damaged while the rest of the office was okay.
Stachowicz is scheduled to be back in court this afternoon (January 30th).
He’s facing charges of arson of a building, terrorist threats, attempted burglary, and criminal damage to property.
