The Manitowoc County Veteran’s Service Offices says vets can keep the money they get from the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
Department Director Todd Brehmer explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program yesterday (January 30th) that his department gets asked by veterans when they will get tax documents for VA benefits.
Brehmer says those benefits are not taxable.
“Whether it’s VA Pension or whether it’s VA Disability, you’re not going to get a document like a 1099 or a W-2 or anything like that from the VA,” he explained. “They’re not reportable; they’re not taxable.”
Brehmer says it’s another great benefit from the VA.
Now, veterans don’t have to worry about the issue when they go to fill out their taxes.
