
The two 10U Squirt Hockey teams in the Manitowoc Youth Hockey Association had very similar experiences at their respective state tournaments.
The Breakers Squirt B team was in Hayward over the weekend, where they fell in their opening game 2-0 to Sauk Prairie.
The squad was able to bounce back in game two, knocking off the host Hurricanes 3-1. In the consolation championship game, the Breakers outlasted Amery, winning 2-1.
Meanwhile, the Squirt A team was in West Salem, where they put on an offensive showcase.
In total, the Breakers netted 23 goals in three games, but their 3 against Stoughton in the opening matchup was not enough as they fell 4-3.
In game 2, the Breakers netted 8 goals against Medford, who scored 5, which also put them in the consolation championship.
The local squad went off in their final game, peppering the Ice Wolves goalie with 12 goals en route to a consolation championship.
The 12U Pee Wee teams have their state tournaments this coming weekend.
The Breakers B team is heading to Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells, and the Pee Wee A team is hosting the tournament at the Manitowoc County Ice Center.
