Will Franzen of Manitowoc Lutheran is the best three-point shooter in Division Four High School Basketball in Wisconsin.
The Lancer junior finished the regular season shooting 49-point-two percent from distance. Senior Matthew Bonin of Roncalli finished second, shooting the three-ball at a 47.5 percent clip.
Senior Derek Laabs of Manitowoc Lutheran shot 43-point-seven percent from distance, good for fifth in the state.
Franzen and Bonin have qualified to face each other in the state’s three-point shooting contest at The State boys basketball tournament at The Kohl Center in Madison on Saturday, March 22nd.
Brayden Smith of Elkhart Lake Glenbeulah is also headed to Madison. The Resorters’ sharpshooter finished second in Division Five behind Logan Nystrom of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
Those two will face off for the Division Five title.
Kiel’s Logan Brunner and Cade Voelker finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in Division Three.
Elijah Fenner of Ashwaubenon is the best in Division Two, shooting the three at a 49-point-six percent clip.
Teammate Kingston Vang finished third, while Kaukauna’s Keegan Van Kauwenberg and Brody McMullin finished fourth and seventh in Division One.
The competition was open during the regular season and those who finished in the top two in each division (minimum 100 attempts) qualified for the state competition.
The girls’ state three-point contest will be held on March 15th during the state tournament at The Resch Center in Ashwaubenon.
