As the new league year in the NFL begins, the Wisconsin DATCP is warning fans of potential scams they may encounter.
This year’s NFL Draft will be hosted in Green Bay from April 24th through the 26th bringing along with it, NFL legends, fans, and scammers.
The DATCP is warning draft goers that scammers may target unsuspecting people through lodging, fake tickets, and imposter website scams.
Lodging scams often involve short-term rentals like Airbnb or Vrbo where scammers make a fake listing with a home they do not own or that does not exist.
Fake ticket scams will be the fraudulent sale of tickets that also do not exist as general admission to the draft and the Draft Experience is free of charge.
Imposter websites will pose as official sites with URLs being slightly altered in an effort to steal money or personal information from victims.
The DATCP warns of these schemes ahead of the draft as scammers may try to take advantage of those excited about the event.
