The St. Nazianz Volunteer Fire Department stayed on scene four hours after a residential fire.
Fire Chief Mike Kaufmann says the department got a call to go to the 18000 block of West Quarry Road in the Town of Eaton just after 8:40 yesterday morning (March 14th).
The first crew encountered heavy fire and smoke burning in the basement ceiling into the first floor and walls.
Firefighters contained the fire in one area of the structure and had it under control in 45 minutes.
There is no cause or dollar amount to the fire at this time.
St. Nazianz Volunteer Fire Department also reminds residents to have working smoke detectors in their residences, and with just having daylight savings time, make sure to change the batteries.
Valders Fire and Ambulance assisted St. Nazianz, as well as Newton, Kiel, Reedsville, Cleveland, Collins, Ada, and Branch Fire Departments.
Help also came from Manitowoc Dispatch, Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputies, the Town of Eaton, and Kelmann Restoration.
