A mental health organization focused on the youth of Manitowoc County has teamed up with Camp Sinawa.
Home Aweigh Acres describes itself as “a sanctuary for youth and families to build faith, find hope, and know love through meaningful mentoring in a serene setting that feels like home.”
The program began searching for a place to help children cope with past trauma or ongoing struggles within their families, friendships, schools, or communities when they were pointed in the direction of Camp Sinawa.
The Camp agreed to help them out, and over the past several months, children from Valders, Brillion, Manitowoc, and other local communities received the help they deserved.
Bryon Zimmerman, the Marketing Director for Home Aweigh Acres, voiced his appreciation to Camp Sinawa, saying, “We would not have been able to survive the past several months as an organization without the gracious help of (Ranger Sara Nelson) and Camp Sinawa. She provided a great place to meet and hold 1:1 and weekly group sessions where we’ve been able to share supper with kids and families.”
