Three additional Milwaukee schools have been shut down due to concerns about lead contamination.
These closures coincide with the first day of Dr. Brenda Cassellius’s tenure as the new superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools.
The affected schools include Starms Early Childhood Education Center, Fernwood Montessori School, and LaFollette School.
Meanwhile, two previously closed schools have been cleared after undergoing deep cleaning.
District officials are advising parents to have their children tested for lead exposure.
