A special award for energy conservation was given to the Manitowoc Public School District.
During the school board’s last meeting, representatives from Cenergistic presented a Best-in-Class banner to the board for the district’s commitment to raising the standard and stewardship for making their school buildings healthier and more efficient.
MPSD Energy Specialist Jim Bateman said that it includes working on getting costs down for steam, electricity, and natural gas, among others.
Cenergistic reports that the district reduced their energy use by 36% which created savings of close to $758,000. The environmental impact includes reducing CO2 emissions equal to 12.5 miles not driven by a vehicle.
The MPSD Foundation was also awarded a $2,000 Cenergistic Community Scholarship for the district’s work.
