A high school softball team in Sheboygan is struggling with numbers.
Sheboygan North softball head coach Chris Lenz shared via social media that the team is currently suffering from a lack of players as tryouts began yesterday (March 17th).
As of last week, there were only 20 girls registered to play softball, four short of the number they are shooting for to have a JV and varsity team.
Registration to play softball will remain open until tomorrow in an effort to get up to that 24-player number.
If at least 24 players do not register, the team will be forced to forgo a JV squad and thus make cuts to the team.
While Coach Lenz is hopeful more girls will register, and that they will find a workaround to avoid cutting players, he has also said that the team needs to be prepared if that’s what they end up having to do.
Any Sheboygan North girls interested in signing up for softball are asked to do so with Mrs. Prisinger in the activities office at the high school.
Any others with questions are asked to email shebnorthsoftball@gmail.com.
