
Manitowoc Lincoln senior Brayden Steinbecker is one of 15 boys in Wisconsin to be named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Elite Academic All-state team.
WBCA member coaches were required to nominate their senior athletes.
They must have a grade point average of at least 3-point-five and an ACT score of at least 25.
Additional information, including on-court statistics, awards and accolades and a personal narrative were taken into, but not necessarily required to be nominated.
Steinbecker was named the Ships’ most valuable player this season, leading the team in scoring and rebounding.
He was also named second team All FRCC.
Other area athletes named include Micheal Van Den Heuvel of Chilton and Andrew Rader of Notre Dame (Green Bay).
Emily Vogel of St. Mary Catholic and Naomi Rikkola of Sevastopol were named WBCA girls Elite Academic all-state selections.
