Winners of The Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame’s third annual Pot of Gold raffle to benefit Manitowoc County Youth were announced Monday night on WOMT Sports Talk at Salute to Everyone in downtown Manitowoc.
Lee Glaeser of The Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame gave out the $2,000 grand prize to Steve Mirsberger, and revealed that the fundraiser was able to collect $6,000 to support youth sports organizations throughout Manitowoc County.
Mirsberger said his thoughts on his newfound wealth that he isn’t sure how it will be used.
“I certainly can’t speak for my household. That’s a decision that will be made jointly,” he said with a smile. “It’s 55 to 45 percent and I’m the 45 percent.”
Mirsberger, who’s served in multiple roles in Manitowoc County Youth Tennis for over 50 years, says he buys tickets to simply give back to the youth of the community, something echoed by Lee Glaeser
“It’s just a credit to the group and the grit and determination we all must display to make sure the kids of our community have what they need to succeed through participating in organized sports,” he explained. “It’s a testament to what we have in this community and must give the kids credit and hope that they carry our mission forward for generations to come.”
The $100 winners are Randy Becker (hometown not listed), Lisa Mueller of Newton, Karnie Goessel of Two Rivers, Tom from Lonz’s Tannery Club of Two Rivers and Terry Wrolson of Manitowoc.
Walking away with $500 were Kevin Wilke of Manitowoc and Mike Henning of Two Rivers.
Ken Kasper of Two Rivers won $1,000, and Elizabeth Lemberger of Whitelaw won $1,500.
A reminder that the 47th Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on Wednesday, April 30th starting at 6:30 at City Limits just outside of Manitowoc.
Tickets will be on sale soon, with details to be released in the coming days.
