Construction on the main road between Manitowoc and Two Rivers is starting in a couple of weeks (April 1st).
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) will start construction on Memorial Drive between Waldo Blvd and the City of Manitowoc to the West Twin River bridge in Two Rivers to extend the service life and improve the highway’s surface.
The DOT says the existing pavement is showing signs of deterioration as well as beam guard reaching the end of their useful life and the metal pipes under the highway are starting to deteriorate.
The bridge deck on the West Twin River also needs to be overlaid with new concrete to extend the bridge structure’s life.
The time the main highway will be closed is during culvert replacement, which will take a full month to complete.
Drivers will be detoured on County Road Q and State Highway 310 during that time. However, the highway will remain open with lanes closed at times.
