
Sophia A. Jandrey was born to Eternal Life on March 17, 2025, at age 97. She was born March 16, 1928, in the town of Rockland in Manitowoc County, the daughter of the late Adolph and Ida (Last) Behnke. She married Charles Jandrey on May 6, 1951, at St. John St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsville. Sophia was employed at Lakeland Egg Co-op as an egg candler from 1952 to 1957. She also worked at Shady Lane Nursing Home in Environmental Services (Housekeeping) from 1980 to 1992. Sophia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and GiGi who loved to spend time with her family. She had a heart of gold.
Sophia is survived by her three sons Paul Jandrey of Oconto Falls, Howard Jandrey of Manitowoc, Dale (Jerry Burkart) Jandrey of Shoto; daughter Brenda (David) Frozena of Manitowoc; former daughter-in-law Eileen Jandrey; grandchildren Ashley (Jason) Halbach of Howards Grove and Brittny (Matthew) Woelfel of Manitowoc; great-grandsons Cooper, Jaxon, Reese, and Grayson; brother-in-law Orville Stecker; sisters-in-law Cheryle Jandrey and Muriel Jandrey; as well as wonderful nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; siblings Josephine (Raymond) Kraus, Helene (Harold) Zahn, Martin (Julia) Behnke, Roland (Loretta) Behnke, Rosie Stecker, Aaron Behnke who died in childhood, and a baby sister; and siblings-in-law Glenroy (Janice) Jandrey, Lawrence (Audrey and Lucy) Jandrey, Lorraine (Willard) Dickert, Doris Jandrey, Donald Jandrey, Eugene (Shirley) Jandrey, and William Jandrey.
Cremation has occurred at Harrigan Parkside Crematory Chapel. Relatives and friends may greet the family at First German Lutheran Church, 1033 S. 8th St., Manitowoc, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jacob Hoff will be officiating. After the service, a luncheon will be held at Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water St., Manitowoc. Burial of the urn will be held privately at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family extends special thanks to Kayla, Pam, and Chelsey at Aurora Home Hospice as well as all the other caregivers who helped us through this difficult time.
