The City of Manitowoc is supporting the revitalization of the Manitowoc Skate Park.
The Common Council approved an agreement to allocate up to $100,000 to match funds secured by the Friends of the Manitowoc Skate Park who want to construct phase three of the skatepark project.
According to city documents, the Friends will secure a grant from the West Foundation which would also help with improvements and maintenance.
The Friends will then fundraise any additional funds required for the completion of Phase Three of the Skate Park to be kept in the segregated account until they are required for payment for improvements.
According to the Manitowoc Skate Preservation Project Facebook page, the Friends are trying to raise $220,000 to fix and replace wooden ramps that are starting to rot and provide maintenance on the concrete ramps.
